SARAJEVO, December 19 /SRNA/ - This morning, the suspects of war crimes against Serbs have been arrested in the Kakanj and Ilijas area - Teufik Turudic /57/ and Senad Sikira /58/ from Kakanj, Mirsad /53/ and Nusret Beslija /55/, and Hamdija Spahic /57/ from Ilijas and Mirzet Beslija /49/ from Sarajevo, the BiH Prosecutor's Office has announced.

The arrests have been conducted by the members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency of BiH /SIPA/ under the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

The statement cites that it is about former members of the Territorial Defence /TO/ and the so-called BiH Army suspected of war crimes against at least 30 Serb victims in the Ilijas area committed on June 10, 1992.
 
The suspects are under investigation for participating in the attack on Cemerno village, the municipality of Ilijas, inhabited by Serbs, as either a commander or members of Territorial Defence and the so-called BiH Army from Kakanj, Ilijas and Breza on June 10, 1992.

This attack resulted in killing approximately 30 Serbs of both sex, among whom the youngest victim was 16, the oldest was more than 80 years old. Approximaterly 10 women were killed.

The crime in Cemerno is one of the most serious crimes against the victims of Serb ethnic background in Ilijas and the surrounding area.

The suspects are charged with the criminal offenses of war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war, organizing a group of people and the incitement to commit war crimes, the unlawful killing and wounding of enemies and violation of law or customs of war.

The suspects will be brought to a adjudicating prosecutor, who will hear them first and then make a decision on proposals for detention measures, prohibiting measures and other activities in accordance with the law.
